Aloha Radio, a self-described indie-rock back with a tropical twist is KX FM’s Artist of the Month!

Since we are all spending more time at home, we asked the Orange County-based group to share with us a recipe they love to make. L, the lead singer of the band, took us step by step on how to make this refreshing watermelon salad!

Aloha Radio also curated a rockin’ playlist that is perfect to listen to when making this delicious salad!

“I’m by no means a home chef, and by all means a watermelon addict. I’ve always got at least 2 melons in the kitchen ready to go and I just stocked up on a few more because we’re nearing the end of the season aka the end of summer. I tried this awesome watermelon salad recipe a few weeks ago and had to share it!”

Bon Appetit!

Watermelon Salad

5 cups or about 1/4 of a large watermelon, cubed
1 1/2 cups yellow grape or cherry tomatoes, halved
1/2 small red onion, chopped
1/2 cup freshly torn basil leaves
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
Ground black pepper to taste
2 TB honey

  1. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients
  2. Use rubber spatula to gently stir together
  3. Cover and chill
  4. Let chill no more than 1 hour before serving

“You definitely want to serve this asap so it retains its freshness!”
