KTLA Anchor Courtney Friel is a successful news anchor and reporter. Her impressive resume includes Fox News, E News, Fox & Friends and Extra TV.  Bullied as a kid she counteracted that with her success and alcohol.  She spent many years numbing out and keeping up appearances hiding dark habits of Cocaine and Ecstasy.  Highly functioning in her addiction, she had a wake up call when one morning she almost didn’t wake up.  With 8 years sober she’s also a great example of the non discriminatory nature of addiction and the proof that with the right treatment anyone can recover and live a life of fulfillment, purpose and true happiness.

Sports Illustrated Top 50 Swimsuit Model & FHM Most Sexiest Woman in the World 2012, Genevieve Morton struggled with addiction and serious issues behind the scenes.  After a difficult childhood, she lost her mother at just 18 years old. She has survived bullying, trauma and numerous emotionally abusive relationships. Hers is a story of forgiveness, mainly for herself and of letting go. Her main motivation to stop drinking stemmed from a want to lose weight but still haunted by emotional trauma, her drinking actually went in the opposite direction.  Oblivious to the possibility that she may have a problem until her 28th birthday where a work situation forced her into a moment of clarity and she had to change her life. Hear her story this week with with host Wes Geer.

Amy Dresner is a former stand up comic, writer and author.  She has survived a 20 year battle with addiction, four psych wards, an abusive marriage and 3 suicide attempts.   Born into a privileged life in Beverly Hills, her parents divorced when she was just 2.  An unstable upbringing with a Mom who didn’t know how to love her, both sides of her family featured a lot of mental illness and addiction.  As a teenager, a bet with her Dad ensured that she was very much into purity and stayed away from alcohol and cigarettes but at 19 she tasted her first drink. From there she descended to a place where if she could snort it, smoke it, shoot it, or have sex with it, she did.  Hear her talk self sabotage, loneliness and the disease of addiction with host Wes Geer.
