Travis Barker has been busy. Whether collaborating with artists like Asher Rosh and Yelawolf on new music, inviting his friends Deftones and Snoop Dogg to the MusInk Festival in Costa Mesa in March, or preparing for this Sunday’s Grammys performance with Robin Thicke/Pitbull/Joe Perry, the man is an absolute force in rock music.
But what about Blink-182?
We haven’t heard new music from the band since the 2011 album “Neighborhoods,” but we do know they’re recording and planning to release the highly-anticipated new record this year. The band went through a line-up change replacing founding member Tom DeLonge with Matt Skiba, which Barker has been happy with, according to his recent interview with Tyler Russell on KX FM 104.7.
“I knew it was going to be a great fit; I didn’t know it was going to be this great of a fit,” he said.
In the interview, Barker goes on to say that the new incarnation of the band wrote 16 songs for the new record, trashed everything, and then started over, going on to call the new songs their “best work in a decade.”
“It’s honestly the best material we’ve written or put out in years,” said Barker. “I haven’t been excited about a Blink album like this in a long time. I’m 120 percent in.”
